In the Midnight Kingdom, there lived a young merman who was quite extraordinary. Now you might think that living in an environment surrounded with bioluminescent plants and creatures would be extraordinary enough, however this was not the case. What made this merman so special was that he was one of the few merpeople of his kingdom who could go up to the Sunlight Kingdom if he so desired, and boy did he want to. However, Mark didn’t sleep well that night. He started tossing and turning in the sand, letting out small grunts and groans. He finally couldn’t take it any longer and decided to swim out of the grotto to clear his head a little. However when he woke up, Jack was gone. In fact, everything but the ground below him was gone. All around him was inky blackness. The ground also consisted of greenish brown and slimy looking plants and seaweed.
“Hello?” Mark called, his voice slightly echoing in this void. “I-Is anyone here?”

He was sure his heart would stop if they both picked the same one and the situation become even more cheesy.
"I'm n-normally more careful, I'm sorry, Jack." Mark apologised awkwardly. Come on Mark, ask him out! It's the perfect opportunity! Shaking his head to himself, Mark stood up with a full pile of books in his hands.
